Discover Seychelles

When you go to a magnificent country like Seychelles, you will want to keep a single point that you haven’t seen. We share the places we visited in Seychelles during our 12-day holiday below. It was an efficient guide to places where we did not waste time. We hope you like it, we are waiting for your comments .. :) This article tells about the places outside the beach because we share in our article about Seychelles Beaches.

Let’s start with Praslin island first. Our list of places that must be seen and visited in your presence:

• Vallée De Mai: This forest, which is on the Unesco World Heritage List in 1983 and located on 20 hectares, is famous for the Coco De Mer plant, which is completely unique to Seychelles and whose seed is forbidden to be taken out of the country. Entrance fee to this forest is 350 SCR per person and free for children under 12 years old. Note that it is only closed between December 25 and January 1. Coco De Mer, the most popular plant in the forest, is actually a palm tree species. It takes between 20 and 25 years for this very rare palm tree to bear its first fruit. Only female trees produce fruit, and the weight of these fruits can vary from 1 kg to 2 kg. Plants between 15 kg and 25 kg were also grown. Don’t try to touch or drop it, it has a penalty. :) :) You can join a guided group if you want to stroll through the forest, we chose to visit ourselves. Besides each important plant, detailed descriptions were also included, we did not need a guide.

• MontPlaisir: One of the most famous hiking trails on the island. If you like to climb mountain and hill, you can go to see the magnificent view at the end of this road and take great photos.

Then La Digue Island.. Since it is a very small island, there is only one park except for beaches and pathways:

• L’Union Estate: When you want to go to Anse Source D’argent, you will have to enter this park. When we entered, we said, let’s walk around the park and entered this park, which is open between 07.00 – 17.00, by giving 115 SCR per person. When I saw it from outside, it did not seem very big, but coconut and vanilla cultivation is carried out in it. You can easily walk around by bicycle. At the same time, you will see 15 big turtles that are caught in big granite stones. You can feed them if you want. :)

Finally, the largest and most sophisticated island, Mahe..

• Anglican St. Paul’s Church: It is the oldest church of Seychelles built in 1859. When you take a walk in the center in Victoria, you will come across.
• Clock Tower: It was built in 1903 when Seychelles declared independence from Mauritius, and this tower is like a small copy of Big Ben in London. After all, it was ruled by the British. You can sit in restaurants around the clock tower and watch Victoria’s traffic.
• Botanical Gardens: This park, which was founded in 1901, is located in the Mont Fleuri region, just above the center of Victoria. It has a parking lot and the entrance fee is 100 SCR per person. It contains more than 200 plant species and these plants have been brought here from all over the world. Each one is looked after very carefully. You can finish with a tour of about 1 hour. There are also giant turtles in which swimming abilities are developed.

• National History Museum: You can find a lot of information about Seychelles history in this museum, located on Victoria’s main street. The museum is open on weekdays from 8.30 to 12.00. The entrance fee is 15 SCR.
• Sir Selwin Selwyn Clark Market: Imagine an open market, fish on the one hand, fruits on the one hand and vegetables on the other. A heavy smell in the air. :) It is a place that reflects the culture of Seychelles. We stopped by to buy bananas. :)
• Village Artisanal: You can look for souvenirs at these shops on Albert Street. In the meantime, there are shops selling souvenirs towards the center of Victoria.
• Arul Mihu Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple:Located in the center of Victoria and even just above Clark Market, this Hindu temple has proved its independence and singularity. Hindus are mainly located in this region on the island. You can go inside and watch the Hindu worship. They never react.
• Seychelles Tea Factory: What a misfortune that a small part of it was open to visitors as it was under renovation when we left. If you don’t have a car, don’t try to come; because it is very troublesome to arrive. :)

You can visit most places on foot in the Victoria area of Mahe, but you need to rent a car to go to places such as a tea factory. However, as we mentioned in our transportation article in Seychelles, transportation by bus is generally comfortable. You can go to most places by bus. The only thing I have left in this list is the Morne Seychellois march. I wasn’t able to walk a 1-foot-high path only. But in the end, they say that a wonderful view awaits you. It is also a place you can reach by car. :)
